Faith always knew she was meant to be an artist. “Since I was a kid, I was writing lyrics to songs and scribbling poetry in my journal. I improvised songs on the guitar and piano - I was creating music and art and plays. I didn’t have to decide to be an artist; I always knew I was one.”
While she has a deeply rooted acting background, having studied at New York University, Faith has become most interested in creating art. “My plays usually start with freestyle exposition and poetry. I piece together the ideas and concepts, and then a narrative comes from there,” she says. “Acting is my first true love. My vision for how theatre can and perhaps should evolve for a modern audience and community has become a passion.”
What are her ideas on the future of theatre? “I know that theatre needs to change. We are living in a society that seeks out not simply escapism but experiences that have the power to shift their current framework or mindset. People want something that feels different, connects them to the world, and facilitates complex, intimate conversations. I want to create theatre that challenges the audience/performer relationship and satiates something they can’t get from any other artistic medium.”
